As you know we cannot touch 200'000 volts but it is possible to touch 200'000 volts.
You all have read about Van de Graaff Generator in Class 12 Physics NCERT Book.
The Van de Graaff generator is an electrostatic generator capable of producing a static electro potential as high as 20 million volts. It is designed by Robert J Vande Graaff, an American physicist.
So to touch 200'000 volts, all you need is an insulator. And to stand on that insulator device like wood, chair etc.
As you know that in Van de Graaff generator when we touch the sphere our body takes charge from the sphere. That charge gets spread all over your body and that charge gets spread in our hair too. As we know that like charges repel each other so our hairs repel each other and an amazing phenomenon you will see in the video below.
A Van de Graaff generator easily produces 5 megavolts of capacity. But if we take two van de Graaff generators together in such a way that one generator has high voltage potential and the other has low voltage potential. A wonderful phenomenon occurs.
Now Before touching the 200'000 volt potential first of all you get on the stool or table which is an insulator because after touching the high voltage generator the flow of electrons from your body to the ground. So it must be sure that you are using a good insulation equipment.
When you touch a high voltage of 200'000 volts, electrons enter your body and you can see the movement of electrons when you move your hand near or away from a low voltage generator. Your hair moves down and up because the electrons are moving from your body towards the low voltage generator which is now positive (protons are present) because the negative charges repel each other and go to ground. That's why the low voltage generator becomes positive and as soon as you move your hand towards the low voltage generator, the electrons will be attracted towards the low voltage generator from your body.
This phenomenon also happens in your daily life. Lightning rods also works on this principle when clouds burst.
